Responsible use of AI
Deciding not to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) can lead to a loss of competitive advantage and falling behind in innovation. Therefore, it is crucial not only to experiment with AI and implement it responsibly, but also to continuously monitor its development, new insights, and technologies. All these steps must be taken in a controlled and responsible manner.
A responsible approach is absolutely essential for the deployment of AI in command and control (C2) processes. It is necessary to identify and manage the risks associated with its deployment. Inaccuracies in AI results or the disclosure of sensitive information can have fatal consequences. It is also essential to consider the available resources, including computational capacity, communication infrastructure bandwidth, and human capabilities.
Controlled deployment of AI requires a deep understanding of the real needs of the military, as this is the only way to ensure that AI does not become merely an expensive technology without real benefit. This approach involves not only technical aspects but also strategic decision-making on where and how AI can bring the greatest value. However, experimenting with AI is necessary because, without it, it is difficult to fully understand its possibilities and limitations in specific applications.
