Portable Remote Weapon Station PRWS-1 at Future Forces 2024
01.10.2024
The goal of the project is to enable conducting observation and shooting activities in the combat area indirectly, i.e. without the physical presence of the soldier-combatant in the firing position of the given weapon. Current technical knowledge allows such solutions to be effectively implemented.
This portable weapon station PRWS-1 is intended for conducting accurate, aimed fire at a tactical distance of up to 500m with a conventional assault rifle (e.g. Bren 2). At the same time, it can carry and perform accurate, aimed fire from recoilless weapons (LAW). The station includes a visual overview and aiming device. The station therefore covers a wide variety of common ground targets.
However, its bearing and quadrant angle capabilities (360°, -45°+100° ) predetermine it for use in anti-drone protection or in CQB (Close Quarters Combat) tasks. The portability of the device allows a suitable total weight of up to 25 kg divided into two parts. The weapon station can be equipped with ballistic protection and creates a very small target area to hit. By using multiple stations, a connected network of firing and observation posts can be created, sharing information and firing tasks. PRWS-1 can be equipped with its own AI (Artificial Intelligence) capabilities. However, such characteristics will introduce ethical, legal and security issues into the project. Installation and uninstallation of the firing position takes tens of seconds. A team of two is fully sufficient for service.
This project generates the creation of other related projects that can further expand the capabilities of PRWS or bring new capabilities independently. The author of this text implemented the project in the form of a functional demonstrator (see photo below). This implementation proves that the project goal is realistic and industrially feasible.
Currently, a version of the device is being structurally processed, which, after experience with the demonstrator, already carries elements of the serial design.
